Trangie’s Beautiful Wungunja Cultural Centre
Trangie Local Aboriginal Land Council knows the value of hard work and commitment.
The LALC, led by CEO Terrie Milgate and Chair Dianne Smith worked for six years to set up a cultural centre it hopes will bring tourism to the small town and surrounding region.
The Wungunja Cultural Centre was funded in part by NSWALC’s annual Community Fund, and is host to dozens of significant artefacts, cultural meeting and dancing areas, and learning spaces for local schools and community organisations.
The stars of the Centre are two magnificent carved Ceremonial green box trees, which were taken from a local property in the 1960’s and returned by the Australian Museum in 2017.
Terrie Milgate says the LALC Board’s goal is for the Centre to ultimately become a focal point for local and regional cultural activities and tourism.
