Big Plans Caring For Country

Cobowra Local Aboriginal Land Council Building Capacity for Youth Engagement

On the far south coast of NSW, a hop, skip and a jump from the town of Moruya, lies one of the most culturally significant areas for the Brinja-Yuin people.

The Congo Campground is part of the Bingi Dreaming Track, surrounded by Eurobodalla National Park, pristine beaches and the Pacific Ocean.

Hidden throughout the area are continuous connections to cultural knowledge – shell middens, stone quarries and beacon sites for spotting visitors and even schools of fish.

It’s this knowledge that Cobowra Local Aboriginal Land Council Elder Georgina Parsons wants young people to be able pass on to their children.

OurMob visited Cobowra LALC to see how youth are being engaged as future leaders.
